Lee Clark bemoans costly red card as Blackpool woes deepen

Lee Clark admits that his side made life too difficult for themselves against Brentford, having gone into half time 2-0 behind and a man down.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark has admitted that his side simply left themselves with too much to do, having made a slow start to their meeting with Brentford this evening.

The Tangerines found themselves two goals down inside the opening 19 minutes at Griffin Park, while matters soon turned even worse when Charles Dunne was issued a red card shortly before the interval.

Two more goals following in the second half as youngster Jon Toral rounded off his hat-trick in a 4-0 rout to leave Blackpool 12 points adrift of safety at the foot of the Championship table.

"This place is hard enough 11 vs. 11 but going down to 10 men is an uphill struggle," Clark told reporters following the match. "It was always going to be a tough evening.

"We didn't start particularly well and didn't do a lot of things well so we had to make a change in formation at 2-0. Then with 10 men the mountain was too big to climb against this side."

Blackpool have now failed to win any of their last 18 away games.
