Huddersfield climb to second in the Championship with a 3-1 win over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Huddersfield Town climbed to second in the Championship with a 3-1 triumph over fellow early-season high-flyers Blackpool at Bloomfield Road tonight.

The hosts themselves could have gone top of the table with a victory, but goals from Lee Novak, James Vaughan and Oliver Norwood secured Town a win that sees them leapfrog their opponents in the standings.

Novak opened the scoring after 13 minutes, breaking the offside trap before firing low into the bottom corner.

Ian Holloway's Tangerines equalised through former Huddersfield forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who converted with the outside of his foot from Thomas Ince's square pass.

Norwich City loanee Vaughan put the Terriers back in front minutes before the break with a bullet header from Norwood's well-delivered set piece.

The midfielder added his own name to the scoresheet shortly after half time when his free kick evaded everybody on its way past Blackpool keeper Matt Gilks, who argued that he was impeded as he came to collect the ball.

Pacey forward Nathan Delfouneso and centre-back Ian Evatt both had late opportunities for the Seasiders to reduce the deficit, but neither could convert as Huddersfield saw out the closing minutes with ease.
