Hans-Joachim Watzke believes that Borussia Dortmund should be regarded as one of the top teams in Europe.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that his club are one of the elite in European football.

Watzke believes that if Jurgen Klopp's side can progress to the Champions League semi-finals this season, then they should be considered to be at the same level as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"Borussia Dortmund were finished eight years ago and now we belong to the cream of European football," UEFA.com quotes him as saying.

"We are the only club unbeaten - that alone is extraordinary. If we make the semi-finals – alongside FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich – then you could rightly say we are at the top level in Europe."

Dortmund will host Malaga in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday, having drawn the first leg 0-0 in Spain last week.
