Julio Cesar: 'Brazil fans can trust me'

Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar insists that his national team's fans can "trust him" despite his lack of games over the past 12 months.

Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar has insisted that his national team's fans have nothing to worry about if he is handed a starting role at the World Cup.

Cesar endured a frustrating start to the season after being sidelined by Queens Park Rangers before he attempted to revive his career with a move to the MLS with Toronto.

The league doesn't possess the same standards as in Europe, but despite not facing high-quality opposition each week, Cesar believes that Brazil's fans should trust him at the finals next month.

The 34-year-old told Globo: "I think that it's natural to distrust me because I did not play for a long time and today I am in an unfashionable league.

"In 2010, I came to the World Cup as the best goalkeeper in the world, no one challenged my name and even then, And even then, I conceded a strange goal against Holland You can trust me."

The former Inter Milan stopper has made 78 appearances for his country.
