Ronaldinho still has hopes of making Brazil World Cup squad

Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho insists that he has not given up hope of being included in Brazil's squad for their home World Cup next summer.

Former Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho has not given up hope of forcing his way back into the Brazil squad in time for the World Cup next summer.

The 33-year-old playmaker has made 97 international appearances, but has not been called up by manager Luiz Felipe Scolari since the 2-2 draw with Chile in April.

The ex-Barcelona star has insisted that his focus is on matters with his club Atletico Mineiro, but has admitted that he has not given up on the thought of representing his country at their home tournament.

"I have not given up on the Brazil squad but I honestly don't make plans, I live in the present," he told Globo Esporte.

"I fight for the Brazilian league title, then the Club World Cup, I am not thinking about next year.

"My goal is to advance step by step, do my best, have a great Club World Cup and then let's see."

Ronaldinho was part of the Brazil squad that beat England on their way to winning the 2002 World Cup.
