New head coach Dean Smith the 'perfect cocktail' for Brentford

Brentford co-director of football Rasmus Ankersen describes new Bees head coach Dean Smith as the "perfect cocktail" for the club.

Brentford's new head coach Dean Smith has been described as the "perfect cocktail" for the club by co-director of football Rasmus Ankersen.

Former Walsall boss Smith was appointed by the Bees earlier this week, succeeding interim manager Lee Carsley in charge of the Championship side.

Speaking at a press conference today, Ankersen told reporters: "We were never going to appoint a manager who parks the bus, and Dean's attractive style of football is a good fit.

"We wanted someone who had experience of British football but was also willing to buy into our project. We feel that Dean is the perfect cocktail of those two things."

Smith promised an attack-minded style of play for Brentford, who have the highest possession count of any Championship side.

"The style of play here is very much aligned to how I want to play. I like attacking, pleasing-on-the-eye football," he added.

Smith's first game in charge of Brentford, who are 11th in the table, is at home to MK Dons on Saturday.
