Swansea City assistant Pep Clotet 'edging closer to Brentford switch'

Swansea City assistant manager Pep Clotet will be unveiled as Brentford's new boss prior to Monday evening's clash with Bolton Wanderers, a report claims.

Brentford are reportedly hopeful of announcing the appointment of Pep Clotet as their new manager prior to the weekend.

The Swansea City assistant was quickly earmarked as the favourite to take over at Griffin Park following his impressive work in South Wales.

A proposed move to lure the Spaniard to Brentford was thought to be in doubt, however, after Swans boss Garry Monk claimed earlier this week that his right-hand man was 'going nowhere'.

Despite Monk's best efforts, the South Wales Evening Post suggests that an official announcement is less than 48 hours away.

Lee Carsley has been tasked with steadying the ship at Brentford since the departure of Marinus Dijkhuizen, a target he has achieved in some style by guiding the Bees back into playoff contention.

The 41-year-old, voted the Championship's Manager of the Month for October, admitted after the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last Saturday that he expected the match to be his last in charge.
