Bobby Zamora happy with Brighton & Hove Albion return

Veteran striker Bobby Zamora says that he turned down other clubs to sign a one-year deal with former side Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bobby Zamora has admitted that he turned down other offers in order to sign a one-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 34-year-old played for the Seagulls between 2000 and 2003 and scored 83 goals before heading to Tottenham Hotspur, and subsequently the likes of West Ham United, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers.

However, the striker was not offered a new deal by QPR at the end of last season, allowing Brighton to step in.

He told the club's official website: "I was holding out for it, I wanted to come back and everything just fell in place. I had a few offers from abroad but I turned those down, and now I'm happy to be back at Brighton where it all started.

"I just hope I do myself justice. There is going to be quite a lot of pressure and the fans are going to be expecting a lot, but they can rest assured I will be doing my best.

"I've spoken to Chris Hughton and he said we've been in almost every game, and only lost by one goal in the majority of games we lost last season. Hopefully I can make a difference and score one or two goals and get Brighton to where they should be. Promotion is the goal and I'm looking forward to the new season."

Zamora could make his second debut for the club against Nottingham Forest on Friday night.
