Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that talks are underway with Joey Barton regarding his future at the club.
The midfielder, who joined the Clarets last summer on a 12-month deal, recently made it known that he would like to extend his stay at Turf Moor.
Asked for an update on the situation by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Dyche revealed that discussions have already taken place with the 33-year-old.
"We always have lines of communication open with all of our players, he's just one of them," said the Burnley manager.
Barton has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, from which he has scored two goals.
