Cambridge United sign Michael Nelson

Free agent Michael Nelson signs a one-year contract with League Two side Cambridge United.

Cambridge United have completed the signing of centre-back Michael Nelson on a 12-month contract.

The 34-year-old has made the switch to the League Two side after his deal with Hibernian was mutually terminated.

"We are delighted to have signed a player of Michael's pedigree and experience. Once we found our that he was available and had negotiated the cancellation of his contract at Hibs, we moved quickly to secure his signature," Cambridge's director of football Jez George told the club's official website.

"He is an excellent character, with a lot of Football League games on his CV and he will be a really important addition to the squad."

Nelson has played for a host of clubs during his career, including Hartlepool United, Norwich City and Bury.
