Half-Time Report: Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic fail to score in dull first half

Craig Noone and Kenwyne Jones miss good chances as Cardiff City and Charlton Athletic are level at half time.

Cardiff City have wasted several early chances in a goalless first half with Charlton Athletic.

Cardiff made a fast start as the recalled Peter Whittingham put in a devilish corner that picked out Matthew Connolly at the back post, but the defender headed his effort just wide.

Minutes later, Craig Noone waltzed his way through the defence before he forced Stephen Henderson to tip his shot over the bar as Charlton struggled to contain the Bluebirds in the early stages.

Whittingham's bright half continued as he looked sharp down the wing, and his measured cross for Kenwyne Jones almost led to a goal, but the striker headed his effort marginally wide.

Tony Watt was a nuisance up front for Charlton, but they failed to create a clear chance.
