Half-Time Report: Bournemouth net three against Cardiff City

Two goals from Dan Gosling help Bournemouth establish a 3-0 advantage at Cardiff City in the League Cup third round.

Bournemouth have one foot in the fourth round of the League Cup after opening up a 3-0 lead away at Cardiff City.

After a solid opening from both sides, Bournemouth broke the deadlock after nine minutes through Dan Gosling, who found himself with time and space on the edge of the area before firing a 20-yard strike past Simon Moore.

Midway through the first half, Bournemouth doubled their advantage at the Cardiff City Stadium when Charlie Daniels completed a sweeping move when firing the ball into the net from an acute angle.

After falling two behind, Cardiff improved with Nicky Maynard missing out with a volley, but Bournemouth all but put the game out of the Welsh side's reach when Gosling was on hand to convert the rebound after Moore had denied Brett Pitman.

Cardiff caretaker bosses Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon made a double change before the break, but it failed to make much difference as Bournemouth reached the break in total control.
