Warnock to quit Cardiff if promoted?
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock suggests that he may quit the club if he earns them promotion back to the Premier League.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has hinted that he may quit the club if he earns them promotion to the Premier League.

The 68-year-old took over in South Wales last October with the club one place from the bottom of the Championship, helping them up to 12th place by the end of the season.

The Bluebirds have begun the new campaign in fine form and currently sit third in the table with 17 points from their first eight fixtures, a run that has seen their odds on promotion shortened.

Warnock is something of a promotion specialist, having earned seven promotions during his career - including three to the top flight - but has admitted that he prefers managing in the second tier.

"Not really, no," Warnock told the Daily Mail when asked if he fancied another spell in the Premier League. "The Championship I absolutely love. We'll just play it by ear this season.

"I'm just going to do the best I can for [Cardiff]. I'm in a nice place now. I'm on my way to putting the pride back completely into the club and I think the club has relished my leadership - not just on the field of play but off it as well. We're united all over the show again now and that reflects in the club.

"We enjoy the day of the games. I want them to go home talking about the saves and the shots and the passes and not talking about politics."

Cardiff last played in the Premier League in the 2013-14 season.
