Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott hopes that his side's 3-1 win at Yeovil Town will silence a lot of the team's critics.

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has expressed his delight at his side's 3-1 win at Yeovil Town.

The Cumbrians had taken just one point from their previous five games in League One and had been criticised by large sections of their own support.

However, Abbott believes that United will have silenced a lot of their critics with today's victory.

"It's been a tough week but credit to the players who produced a really good, determined and honest performance," said Abbott. "I told the players to make sure we didn't go home with nothing and give the snipers a chance to get everyone talking.

"We've produced some nonsense performances at home and some people have maybe seen the worst of us. On our travels we've been alright and have probably got an away record up there with any side in the league.

"The dressing room is fantastic and I hope people believe me. Sometimes we underperform but it's nothing to do with the state of our heads or mindset. We've had an awful run of injuries and bad luck, sometimes we haven't played as well as we have needed to - but here we certainly did."

Carlisle currently sit 18th in the League One table, having taken 20 points from a possible 60 this season.
