Brendan Rodgers urges Celtic players to "stay calm" against Paris Saint-Germain

Brendan Rodgers believes that Celtic are now far more prepared for the Champions League compared to 12 months ago, as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he is confident his side can pull off an upset against Paris Saint-Germain after 12 months of development under his tutelage.

The Bhoys finished bottom of a tough group last season, going down 7-0 to Barcelona along the way, as they exited the Champions League at the first hurdle.

Rodgers's men have a daunting task this time around, too, with PSG up first before games against Bayern Munich and Anderlecht, but the Ulsterman believes that the key to picking up points is to "stay calm" against the heavyweight opposition.

"[PSG's] focus is on winning it. For us, 12 months ago, we were just getting ready for our first game and I didn't believe we were anywhere near the level we are at now," he told reporters.

"We have developed a courage to play our game and have the courage to physically press and work teams. The attitude is everything in these games. If you stand off top-class players, they'll punish you.

"We need to be educated in our pressure and how we press the game and how we play our natural game. I'm also looking to forward to seeing how we play in counter-attack. At this level you have to stay calm, if you can't press the ball and press the game then you have to be very organised and we have the players to do that."

Celtic, who went the whole of last season unbeaten domestically, have kicked off the 2017-18 campaign with four league wins and a draw.
