Fernando Torres says that he is returning to the best form of his career after his recent performances for club and country.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has insisted that he is returning to the best form of his life having recovered from a disappointing start to his Blues career.

The Spaniard is currently the leading scorer at the Confederations Cup with five goals, and came under criticism for only managing to find the back of the net eight times in the Premier League last season.

However, Torres, who netted 24 in all competitions last term - seven more than the previous year - believes that he should only be judged on his current form.

"In the end I think it is people who remember my first year at Chelsea, which was not good, rather than the current situation," Torres told Radio Marca.

"I am happy with how I'm playing even though I am very demanding. Things are getting back to normal for me.

"I feel great, physically good, despite the season being a long one. I feel very comfortable, strong and quick."

Spain face Italy in the Confederations Cup semi-final on Thursday.
