Fernando Torres scores twice as Chelsea hold a 4-0 advantage over London rivals Queens Park Rangers at the break.

Fernando Torres scored twice during the opening 45 minutes as Chelsea took a 4-0 lead into the break in their London derby against Queens Park Rangers this afternoon.

It took hosting Chelsea just 48 seconds to opening the scoring against their struggling visitors. England international Daniel Sturridge cut inside from the left wing before curling an effort beyond the reach of Paddy Kenny from outside the penalty area.

Having seen an earlier effort held by Kenny, captain John Terry doubled Chelsea's advantage in the 13th minute when he headed in a corner from Spanish international Juan Mata.

Torres's first goal of the afternoon arrived six minutes later when he rounded Kenny to shoot into an empty net after being put through by Salomon Kalou.

He found the net again in the 24th minute, capitalising on a misunderstanding between Kenny and QPR defender Nedum Onuoha to fire the ball into the right hand corner of the net from a narrow angle.

The Spanish striker's brace was his first in the Premier League since January 2011.

He had chance to claim a third goal in the closing stages of the half, but he dragged an effort wide of goal following low pass from Frank Lampard.
