Half-Time Report: Wimbledon lead Premier League Chelsea at break

Alan Bennett and Matthew Tubbs put AFC Wimbledon 2-0 ahead at half time in their pre-season friendly against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

Goals at either end of the first half from Alan Bennett and Matthew Tubbs have given AFC Wimbledon a shock 2-0 half-time lead over Premier League giants Chelsea.

With just 38 seconds on the clock, 32-year-old defender Bennett rose above Andreas Christensen to direct a header beyond the reach of Mark Schwarzer.

Wimbledon continued to pose problems for their illustrious opponents, as Sean Rigg forced Schwarzer into a good save with a powerful drive and George Francomb dragged a shot wide after a positive run.

Nonetheless, Chelsea showed brief glimpses of their quality, most notably when Mohamed Salah forced James Shea into a smart stop.

Things went from bad to worse for Jose Mourniho's side shortly before the break though, as Kurt Zouma bundled Tubbs over in the box. The experienced striker then picked himself up to slam a precise penalty beyond the reach of a sprawling Schwarzer to make it 2-0 to the home side.
