The visitors had an excellent chance to take the lead when Fernando Torres raced into the box and rounded David Marshall, but due to the involvement of balloons on the pitch, he was unable to get a shot away before Steven Caulker could get back to clear the danger.

Jose Mourinho's side tried to respond and Oscar should have brought them level when he was put through on goal. The Brazilian had time in the box, but he could only fire his effort past the post.

After half time, Chelsea began to up the ante and Mohamed Salah found space inside the box, but he could only drill his effort wide of the post.

The Blues continued to press but couldn't find a way past David Marshall as Eden Hazard raided down the left only to see his shot hit the side-netting, while the Scot saved comfortably from Oscar.

However, Chelsea did get an equaliser when Azpilicueta drove two efforts at goal which Marshall managed to keep out but he couldn't stop Schurrle tapping home from close range.

Mourinho's side took the lead in the 76th minute when Schurrle turned provider this time to tee up Torres on the penalty spot and he kept his composure to find the net to fire the Blues to victory.
