Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Leicester City

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League showdown with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea welcome Leicester City to Stamford Bridge for their first home game of the season on Sunday as Frank Lampard continues his search for a maiden win in charge of the club.

In what will be the club-record top-scorer's first taste of being Chelsea boss at the stadium where he made such an impact on the field, the Blues will be looking to bounce back from defeats against two of their biggest domestic rivals in the opening week of the campaign.

Manchester United ran riot in the final half-hour at Old Trafford last weekend as Chelsea slumped to a humiliating 4-0 defeat, and there was penalty shootout heartbreak in Istanbul on Wednesday as Liverpool beat them in the UEFA Super Cup.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Lampard's side ahead of Leicester's visit.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea could be facing a centre-back shortage, with Christensen having picked up a knock in Istanbul which forced him off five minutes from the end of normal time. The Dane will be assessed before Sunday's match.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

Loftus-Cheek sustained a serious Achilles injury in May and continues to work towards fitness once again, with a return not expected until November.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Like Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi is still carrying an Achilles injury from last season. The young winger is further along in the recovery process but is unlikely to feature until after the September international break at the earliest.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

James has been backed to challenge for a first-team place this season, but he must first recover from a broken ankle he suffered during the summer.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no suspension issues for this match.
