Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Watford

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Watford at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea play host to Watford on Saturday evening with work to do in order to retain their place in the top four of the Premier League table.

Despite being handed the opportunity to move into third spot courtesy of Leicester City's defeat at Everton, the Blues let slip a lead to succumb to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Heading into the weekend, Frank Lampard's side remain one point adrift of the Foxes, while possessing a two-point advantage over Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of the latest injury and suspension news for Chelsea ahead of the meeting with the Hornets at Stamford Bridge.

Mateo Kovacic

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: July 4 (vs. Watford)

During the early stages of the second half against West Ham, Kovacic was withdrawn having picked up a knock. Although the Croatian was able to walk off the pitch unaided, the injury makes him a doubt for Saturday evening.

Fikayo Tomori

Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: July 4 (vs. Watford)

Although Tomori was given an outside chance of making the squad on Wednesday night, the defender missed out on selection. However, with three more days of recovery time, the Englishman may feature in the 20-man group at the weekend.
