Andre Villas-Boas believes that the racism row between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand has been "blown out of all proportion".

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has leapt to the defence of his captain John Terry over the ongoing racism row surrounding the player.

Terry has been accused of using racist language towards Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand during Sunday's match between the two sides at Loftus Road.

However, Villas-Boas has claimed that the situation has been "blown out of all proportion".

"Anton was present in our dressing room [after the match]," the boss told a press conference. "For us it was the end of the story and still is.

"It is just a misunderstanding and something that has been blown out of all proportion.

"John Terry represents England internationally and people who represent this country should have better and fuller support."

When asked whether he was happy with Terry's on-field conduct since he took over the club during the summer, Villas-Boas replied: "Always."

Ferdinand is believed to be holding discussions with his manager Neil Warnock regarding the situation later this afternoon.
