Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas admits that Liverpool were the better side in the Carling Cup tie between the two sides tonight.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that Liverpool deserved their 2-0 win over the Blues in the Carling Cup quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Two goals in eight second-half minutes from Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Kelly earned the Reds their second victory over Chelsea in ten days and sent them into the last four.

"I thought Liverpool were superior all the way through. They had a strong desire to kill the game off and we couldn't match it," he said.

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to fourth-placed Newcastle.
