Gareth Barry: "We deserved it"

Gareth Barry says that Everton worked hard and deserved their slender 1-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park.

Everton midfielder Gareth Barry believes that the Toffees deserved their 1-0 win over Chelsea this evening.

Steven Naismith scored in first-half stoppage time at Goodison Park, which helped the Merseysiders to their first win of the Premier League campaign.

"It was a fantastic atmosphere, night matches at Goodison Park are always special," the 32-year-old debutant told Sky Sports News.

"The lads have made me welcome for the last 10 days and it was a great performance, Chelsea played really well but we deserved it."

Barry, who also collected the man of the match award, signed for the Blues on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City on transfer deadline day.
