Chelsea confirm that new manager Rafael Benitez will meet his players for the first time today as he begins his career at Stamford Bridge.

New Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez is due to meet his players for the first time today as he begins his reign at Stamford Bridge.

The former Liverpool boss was appointed as the club's new first-team coach until the end of the season just hours after Roberto Di Matteo was dismissed from his position.

The Champions League winners have announced via their official Twitter page that the Spaniard will hold his first meeting with the squad, which includes striker Fernando Torres, whom Benitez brought to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid during his stint at Anfield.

Benitez, who has not been welcomed by some of the Chelsea following, will begin his Blues career with a Premier League battle against champions Manchester City this weekend.
