Ryan Bertrand: 'I need regular football'

Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand reveals that he is prepared to leave Stamford Bridge in order to earn regular first-team football.

Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand has insisted that there will be "no more waiting around" in his attempts to win a starting place at Stamford Bridge.

Bertrand was loaned to Aston Villa in January after making just three appearances for the Blues during the first half of the campaign, and despite receiving encouraging words from Jose Mourinho, the left-back has revealed that he is prepared to leave the West London outfit at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old told the Birmingham Mail: "It's flattering to hear what Jose Mourinho said but there's no more waiting around for me in terms of wanting to be a Chelsea player.

"Come the summer, I need to be the first-choice left-back, wherever that will be. I have ambitions but I have to be realistic as well. I will sit down and consider all my options. Staying here isn't something that I would rule out. I've had years of playing but since I was 17, I have been on loan, basically."

Bertrand has made eight appearances during his temporary spell at Aston Villa.
