Jamie Carragher believes the cost of replacing John Terry will be "enormous"

The cost of replacing Chelsea captain John Terry will be "enormous", says Jamie Carragher.

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will have to spend a lot of money to adequately replace John Terry.

The Chelsea captain was awarded the man of the match award as the Blues beat Tottenham Hotspur to lift the League Cup on Sunday, and Carragher believes that replacing the 34-year-old is almost impossible.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "John Terry is going to cause Chelsea a huge problem in the future and the cost to fix it will be enormous.

"There will come a point one day when Jose Mourinho is no longer able to rely on his captain and, privately, he will be dreading when that time comes. The term to describe Terry's influence on this Chelsea team is the same as the one you would label his performance at Wembley - colossal."

He later added: "When you think Manchester City paid £32m for Eliaquim Mangala last summer and David Luiz cost Paris Saint-Germain £50m, you get an idea of how difficult it will be to find someone with Terry's many qualities."

Terry has won 15 major honours at Chelsea, including three Premier League titles and a Champions League.
