Filipe Luis: 'I could not let Atletico Madrid go while playing at Chelsea'

Atletico Madrid full-back Filipe Luis says that he could not let the club out of his mind while competing for Chelsea in the Premier League last season.

Returning Atletico Madrid full-back Filipe Luis has revealed that he could not let the club go after spending a season with Chelsea in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old moved back to his former club this summer after enduring a tough spell at Stamford Bridge, and the Brazil international has stated that he had always missed the team while competing in England.

"I'm thrilled. I was thrilled to learn Atletico were interested in my return. Few players have that opportunity. It's the best thing that could have happened," Luis told told AS.

"Almost all the same players are here. The club has only gotten better and not a lot has changed. The feeling I had on the pitch, which is the most important, was as if I'd never left.

"I always really missed Atletico. I couldn't let go."

Luis made just 15 appearances for Chelsea last campaign, after struggling to displace fellow defender Cesar Azpilicueta in Jose Mourinho's starting XI.
