Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he joined Everton on loan from Chelsea because he needed more games.
Many questioned why Jose Mourinho let the Belgian youngster leave the club, particularly when his own strikers have not produced their best form.
Lukaku claimed that all he wants to do is play football and improve as a player.
"My desire to improve and be the best I can be explains everything," Lukaku told The Mirror. "I could have stayed at Chelsea and played a few games but how can you reach your best level when you don't play so much.
"How will you be one of the best not playing? Look at Rooney, Ronaldo, Drogba - every top striker. They always played. They played constantly, all the time. Games, games, games. I just want to be one of them, that is my ambition.
"I don't play football to show off or to make money, I play because of my pride and because I love the game."
Lukaku and Everton take on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
