Five Chelsea fans involved in Paris Metro incident face police banning orders

Five men involved in the racially-motivated attack on the Paris Metro prior to Chelsea's Champions League match with PSG in February face police banning orders from football.

Five Chelsea fans who were involved in last month's racially-motivated attack on the Paris Metro face police banning orders from football.

A group of Blues supporters prevented a black man from boarding a train prior to their Champions League last-16 first leg with Paris Saint-Germain on February 17.

The men were also filmed directing racist chants at the victim, with Chelsea describing the incident as "abhorrent" and subsequently banning three people from Stamford Bridge.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On Tuesday March 10 and Wednesday March 11, the Metropolitan Police Service served summonses on five men involved in incidents on the Paris Metro before the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Chelsea Champions League fixture on Tuesday February 17.

"They have been summonsed to appear at Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court on Wednesday March 25 regarding a police application for football banning orders."

The return leg of the Champions League tie takes place in London this evening, with the score at 1-1.
