Captain John Terry describes Chelsea's recent displays as "lacklustre", as well as questioning the team's desire to fight for the cause.

Chelsea captain John Terry has described the club's recent performances as "lacklustre".

The 32-year-old had been forced to watch the majority of matches since November from the sidelines because of a knee injury that he sustained during a Premier League encounter against Liverpool.

During that time the Blues exited the League Cup at the semi-finals stage to Swansea City, while upon Terry's return, they were held to a 2-2 draw by League One side Brentford in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

"Even though it's great to be back personally, on a team performance we should be winning the game [at Brentford] and now we've made it difficult for ourselves with a replay again," Terry is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard. "We have another game we could do without but we should beat them at the Bridge. I was disappointed because we didn't fight and they wanted it more.

"We're not [winning any trophies at the moment]. It's disappointing going to Swansea and not scoring over two legs of the semi-final and being so lacklustre, like we were at Brentford.

"Over the two legs against Swansea, at home we did better but going there I'd rather we'd lost that three or 4-0 and give it a go and we didn't do that."

Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Reading tomorrow evening.
