John Terry is expected to skipper Chelsea in tonight's Premier League match against Tottenham despite facing criminal charges.

John Terry is expected to be captain Chelsea in the Blues' Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, just 24 hours after discovering that the defender will face criminal charges of racism.

The 31-year-old will face Magistrates on February 1 on charges of allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand at Loftus Road in October.

Despite the controversy surrounding the England skipper, Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has stood by the centre-back and will allow Terry to lead his team out against Harry Redknapp's side at White Hart Lane this evening.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Tottenham will make a last-minute decision as to whether to play Gareth Bale, who has been suffering with an ankle injury.
