Chelsea captain John Terry is cleared of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea captain John Terry has been cleared of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

The England defender was accused of a racially aggravated public order offence after he allegedly fired racial slurs at Ferdinand during Chelsea's match with Rangers in October.

However, he was found not guilty by Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle after a week-long trial that concluded at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

Riddle explained that the verdict was due to a lack of sufficient video evidence and inconsistencies in the testimonies of lip-reading experts.

Terry chose not to make a statement as he left the court.
