The visitors had an excellent chance to take the lead when Fernando Torres raced into the box and rounded David Marshall, but due to the involvement of balloons on the pitch, he was unable to get a shot away before Steven Caulker could get back to clear the danger.

Cardiff took the lead in the 15th minute as he picked up the ball 35 yards from goal and he drilled an effort which took a big deflection off Cesar Azpilicueta and beat Mark Schwarzer in the Chelsea goal.

Jose Mourinho's side tried to respond and Oscar should have brought them level when he was put through on goal. The Brazilian had time in the box, but he could only fire his effort past the post.
