Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has claimed that Chelsea deserved their Champions League win because luck was on their side.
Despite Bayern's dominance for much of the match at the Allianz Arena, a 1-1 draw after extra time allowed the Blues to claim a 4-3 triumph in the penalty shootout.
"Why are the English to blame when Bayern are not able to convert their dominance?" said Beckenbauer.
"Luck was on Chelsea's side this time and that is why they are deserved Champions League winners. Nonetheless, Bayern was the better team for most parts of the game."
Chelsea's victory on Saturday saw the club lift the trophy for the first time in their history.
