An official from Werder Bremen says that the club are hoping to keep hold of Chelsea loanee Kevin De Bruyne.

Werder Bremen's sporting director Thomas Eichin has revealed that the club are keen to extend Kevin De Bruyne's loan spell from Chelsea.

The Belgium international joined the Blues last summer from Genk, but was then immediately loaned out for the entire campaign to Bremen.

With Chelsea stocked up as far as midfield options are concerned, Eichin believes that Bremen are the right club for the 21-year-old's development.

"We have made no secret of our interest in keeping Kevin. We are the right club to advance his development," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

De Bruyne has made 25 appearances this season, scoring six goals in the process.
