Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier Hernandez has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Chelsea.
On Thursday, it was claimed that Manchester United were likely to beat Chelsea in the race to sign Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, with a £75m deal allegedly being agreed.
However, according to The Mirror, the Blues have wasted little time in adding another name to their growing list of alternatives for the Belgian international.
It has been suggested that they are considering a move for Hernandez, who has also been linked with a transfer to West Ham United ahead of next season.
In his two years at Leverkusen, the Mexican striker has scored 39 goals in 76 appearances in all competitions, but he has a release clause of just £13m in his contract.
Any move could depend on how much first-team football Hernandez would receive after he spent much of his previous time in England with Manchester United on the bench.
