Manchester City to offer Didier Drogba lucrative alternative to Chelsea return?

Manchester City are reportedly planning on gatecrashing Chelsea's reunion with Didier Drogba by offering the out-of-contract striker a lucrative one-year deal.

Manchester City are reportedly planning an unlikely move for Didier Drogba as they attempt to gatecrash his Chelsea reunion.

The 36-year-old striker is a free agent after leaving Turkish giants Galatasaray earlier this summer and is believed to be close to sealing a return to Stamford Bridge.

The Ivorian will apparently snub a big-money move to Juventus to take up a player-coach role with the Blues, but the Daily Star claims that City want to bring Drogba back to England themselves.

Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly after a short-term signing to boost his increasingly uncertain striking ranks, with Alvaro Negredo having been ruled out for several months and Stevan Jovetic interesting Inter Milan.

The Citizens are willing to offer Drogba a lucrative one-year contract in a bid to persuade him to choose Manchester over a second spell at Chelsea, where he scored 157 goals in eight years, won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and scored the winning penalty in their Champions League triumph.
