Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni claims that the Italian club could be interested in a move for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni has expressed his admiration for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

It was recently revealed that the 34-year-old would not be offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge for next season, leading to speculation over his next move.

Manchester United, Juventus and Los Angeles are just three of the clubs who have been linked with the England international.

"Lampard is a player I have always liked and may be an example of today's marketplace," Cognigni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"A player who has passed 30 years, his contract is expiring, and he may be the right combination between experience and cost of the deal."

Lampard has made over 500 appearances for Chelsea since he moved from West Ham United in 2001.
