Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will seek an exit during the January transfer window unless he is handed more first-team action, according to a report.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will reportedly look to leave the Blues during the January transfer window unless he is handed more first-team action.

The 32-year-old has made 282 appearances for Chelsea since a 2012 move from Bolton Wanderers and has played over 40 times for the club in each of the last two campaigns.

The Englishman has not been involved under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri this season, however, with David Luiz now back in favour at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Sun, Cahill is not prepared to sit on the bench at Chelsea for the whole season and will push for a move in the January transfer window unless a drastic change occurs over the next few months.

Chelsea will attempt to make it five straight wins at the start of the new Premier League campaign when they host Cardiff City on September 15.
