Jose Mourinho hints at Marco Amelia signing

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirms that the club are considering signing free agent Marco Amelia as backup to goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the Blues are looking to bring in goalkeeper Marco Amelia on a free transfer.

Amelia has been without a club since leaving Perugia during the summer, and Mourinho has revealed that the 33-year-old Italian could be brought in as cover for Asmir Begovic.

The 52-year-old told reporters: "We will try. We have in this moment Marco Amelia working with us for a couple of days.

"He is an experienced keeper. He knows what a big club is and the responsibility. He has played Champions League and the national team.

"We need some stability until Courtois is back. Maybe he can give us that."

First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out until at least December.
