Jose Mourinho unclear on Fernando Torres exit

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that striker Fernando Torres has not informed him that he wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that he won't end the transfer window with fewer than three strikers in his squad.

Fernando Torres has been strongly linked with a transfer to AC Milan, with it being suggested that a two-year deal could be signed in the near future, but Mourinho, who also has Diego Costa and Didier Drogba at his disposal, has insisted that the Spaniard hasn't asked to leave Stamford Bridge.

The 51-year-old told reporters: "What we have clear as a club is that we need three strikers to face this season.

"He is one of them. I like him as a person, I like him as a player so if he wants to leave, it would be something that he didn't say to me until this moment. Our belief for a long time is that the squad is closed."

If Torres does leave before Monday's deadline, it has been reported that Chelsea could target Roma striker Mattia Destro.
