Olivier Giroud insists that he is happy at Chelsea and wants to fight for a place in Maurizio Sarri's side next season.

Olivier Giroud has insisted that he is happy at Chelsea and wants to fight for his place at the club next season.

Giroud joined the Blues from Arsenal in January, but faced competition from Alvaro Morata for a starting spot in former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte's side.

Maurizio Sarri has been appointed as Conte's successor after the Italian left the club this summer, and Giroud wants to prove a point under his new coach.

"I am happy here at Chelsea. I just arrived a few months ago and am just starting to settle well," Giroud told reporters.

"I think we had a good end to the season even if we didn't finish in the top four. we are hoping to have a great season for the fans and I'm looking forward to the first game (away at Huddersfield on Saturday).

"I still have one year to go with Chelsea plus maybe another one. I'm going to discuss that with the club at the right time. There is no rush. The most important thing is to open a new page with our club and to be ready to give everything for the club."

Giroud is the fourth-highest scorer in history for France, having netted 31 goals for his national side.
