Report: Atletico Madrid lead Fernando Torres race

A report claims that Atletico Madrid are the favourites to re-sign Chelsea forward Fernando Torres at the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly the favourites to re-sign Chelsea forward Fernando Torres.

The Spanish international scored 82 league goals between 2001 and 2007 for Atletico, whom he also captained when he was still just a teenager.

A recent report claimed that Diego Simeone was keen on a Vicente Calderon return for the 29-year-old, whose career has stalled at Chelsea in recent seasons.

Inter Milan have also been linked with his services, but according to Goal.com, Atletico are the firm favourites to sign the forward at the end of the season.

Torres still has two years remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
