Report: Atletico Madrid want Erik Lamela

A report claims that Atletico Madrid will move for Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela if they lose Antoine Griezmann to Chelsea this summer.

Atletico Madrid will reportedly move for Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela, should Antoine Griezmann leave the club this summer.

Griezmann, 24, has netted 25 times in 51 games for Atletico this season, but it is understood that Chelsea are preparing a big-money move.

According to the London Evening Standard, if Griezmann does leave the Vicente Calderon, Atletico will attempt to replace the Frenchman with Spurs winger Lamela.

Lamela, 23, moved to the Premier League from Roma in 2013, but has largely struggled to make his mark in London.

It is understood that Atletico boss Diego Simeone believes that the Argentine is more suited to Spanish football, while the player is said to be keen on a move to La Liga.
