Report: Barcelona to rival Liverpool for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner

Timo Werner emerges as a rumoured January transfer target for Barcelona, potentially providing Liverpool with some competition for the RB Leipzig striker.

Barcelona will rival Liverpool for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has scored 25 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga club this term and is rumoured to be open to a switch to Anfield.

However, Spanish outlet Sport claims that Barca have entered the race to sign the Germany international as a possible replacement for the injured Luis Suarez.

Whereas Liverpool are not actively looking to add any more players to their squad this month, Barcelona are said to be hopeful of striking a deal with Leipzig over the next fortnight.

Werner is likely to be available for around £60m and is thought to also be on Chelsea's transfer radar.
