Newcastle speak with the representatives of Marseille striker Loic Remy over a possible January move to Tyneside, according to reports.

Newcastle United have reportedly made the first move in the battle to sign sought-after Marseille frontman Loic Remy.

According to Sky Sports News, the Magpies have spoken to representatives of the French international ahead of a possible January move.

Alan Pardew appears to be making contingency plans should Demba Ba leave Tyneside in the upcoming transfer window, and it is understood that Marseille would be prepared to sell Remy should the right offer come in.

The 25-year-old has previously attracted Premier League attention from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, and the London trio are still believed to be keen on the pacey forward.
