Tony Pulis happy after tough start at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis says that his team had to overcome a tough start against West Ham United this evening.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has said that his team responded well after coming under pressure in the first half against West Ham United.

The Eagles triumphed 1-0 at Selhurst Park thanks to Marouane Chamakh's 42nd-minute header, although Kevin Nolan and Mohamed Diame had both wasted opportunities to score.

The one goal was enough for the South Londoners to register a first win under the Welsh coach in his first home game in charge - following on from Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Norwich City.

"In the first 20 minutes we were on the back foot, we didn't start well and looked pretty nervous, but then we got into the game," the 55-year-old told BT Sport.

"I'm very pleased for Marouane Chamakh, he has really worked hard. He and Cameron Jerome were a handful."

Victory has helped Palace move off the bottom of the Premier League.
