Holloway: 'Transfer market is a nightmare'

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway expresses his frustration with the transfer market.

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has described pre-season transfer business as "an absolute nightmare".

The Eagles boss is determined to add more new recruits to his squad this summer, but is finding the process frustrating.

"The market is absolutely crazy. You have a certain time to go shopping and you have to go shopping at the same time and everyone sees how much money you have," he told Sky Sports News.

"I have had to turn my phone off because it's on meltdown. It's an absolute nightmare but once you sift through it, using my 18 years of experience as a manager, we will get some good signings in. I might need five, six or even seven."

Holloway has already made six signings this summer, but is hoping to bring in more new players, with Wilfried Zaha having joined Manchester United and striker Glenn Murray out injured.

"We still need to make a few more additions. With Wilfried going and Glenn, I've lost a lot of goals. We have set ourselves targets and we need to be able to give ourselves the best chance to compete in the Premier League."

Palace kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Tottenham Hotspur on August 18.
