Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly set to battle each other to sign Slovan Bratislava goalkeeper Dominik Grief.
The Eagles sent goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely and the Seagulls seconded assistant goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren to watch the 22-year-old in action for the Slovakian side against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week in the Europa League.
Although Bratislava lost 1-0, the scouts were understood to be impressed by Grief's performance as he produced a number of fine saves, including one to keep out Ruben Neves's penalty.
Football Insider reports that both Palace and Brighton are looking to bolster their goalkeeping options in January and that they will both continue to monitor his performances in the next few weeks.
Grief, who recently earned a maiden call-up to the Slovakian national team, has kept nine clean sheets in 23 games for Bratislava this season.
